Supporting People is a Government programme aimed at helping vulnerable people live independently in their home.
Supporting People services are provided by housing providers who hold contracts with the County Council.
Supporting People providers are paid to deliver housing-related support to service users on a range of tasks, such as help in managing finances and assistance in gaining access to other services.
The Council needs to ensure that providers meet certain standards which are laid down by the Government.
Part of this process involves visiting services throughout the County, giving us the opportunity to speak to staff and service users to ensure standards are being met.
Visits will entail looking at how the service keeps records, what are it’s policies, such as the complaints policy, and whether they are being adhered to.
When we visit your service we are very keen to speak to you, either as a group or individually, to get your views of the service you receive.
In particular we would like your views on whether you think you are getting a good service and what could be improved.
We would also be interested to hear your opinion on any proposed changes for existing support services, and what services you think are missing to make a difference to your quality of life.
In the very near future, the Supporting People team will be setting up a number of service user reference groups, and we would be keen for you to join. This would give us the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your views in more detail.
There is currently a Gypsy and Traveller Liaison group - meeting details are available here
